Awards and Criteria
The Entrepreneur Hall of Fame
The Entrepreneur Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who epitomize the incredible entrepreneurial spirit in Waterloo Region. Their accomplishments have had a significant impact on the community and economy - a lasting legacy for future generations.
Up to ten individuals are inducted each year, based on a public nomination process.
Criteria
- The nominee can be living or deceased
- The nominee must demonstrate a significant connection to Waterloo Region. Most importantly, the nominee has grown a business here but nominees who were born here or studied here and still maintain some connection with the region, are also eligible.
- The nominee's entrepreneurial record must demonstrate:
- business excellence
- vision and innovation
- inspiring leadership
- legacy
- All non-posthumous award winners must be available to receive the award in person at the Hall of Fame gala celebration in early October.
The Intrepid Entrepreneur Award
This award recognizes a fearless entrepreneur who is making a positive impact on Waterloo Region's entrepreneurial scene and community, right now. He or she already stands out among peers for capturing opportunities and overcoming challenges, but clearly, the best is yet to come for this inspirational leader.
One award is presented each year, beginning in 2007. Selection is based on a public nomination process.
Criteria
- The nominee must be an active entrepreneur who is making a significant contribution to building Waterloo Region's entrepreneurial community.
- The winner must be available to receive the award in person at the Hall of Fame Gala Dinner in early October.
The Luminary Entrepreneur Award
This award recognizes the vital contribution of visionaries who build world-leading organizations and demonstrate leadership, achievement and responsibility to their community.
One award is presented each year, nominated and selected by the Advisory Committee.
Criteria
- Ideally, the honouree demonstrates some connection to Waterloo Region.
- The honouree is an appropriate and recognized role model for emerging entrepreneurs in Waterloo Region.
- The honouree is available to speak at the Gala awards during Communitech's Entrepreneur Week in early October.
